Chris Tucker

With his distinctive, high-pitched voice and a remarkable flair for physical comedy, Chris Tucker stands out. Whether he’s trading barbs with Ice Cube in the Friday series, playing the foil to Jackie Chan’s straight man in the Rush Hour movies, or barging through the third act of The Fifth Element like a bull in a Bruce Willis shop, Tucker lights up the screen with more wattage that the union of projectionists normally allow. Yet, as seen in his 2012 turn in Silver Linings Playbook, Tucker knows when to dial it down and when it crank it back up. Since most audiences know Tucker from film, they might be surprised to see how easily that movie star charisma translates to the stage during his stand-up show. Unwound and irascible, yet far more grounded than his motor-mouthed screen persona, Tucker waxes observational, demonstrates dead-on impressions, and shares some of the autobiographical anecdotes populating his ever-percolating brain.
